Head of Curriculum at OKpanda
New York City, NY, US
OKpanda is a venture-funded English learning platform ($5M from top VCs and angels) that includes instant messaging, live voice, and digital curricula. English is a $35 billion opportunity in revenues that still go to brick and mortar schools and represents the key to a better life for 1B+ people. Our platform allows any qualified English teacher to teach, anywhere and anytime.

Higher internet penetration and particularly mobile presents a historic opportunity for people everywhere to share their gifts and make a dignified living in the process.

Despite a growing amount of great (and free) content, a learner’s problem is knowing *what* to use, how to use it, and not giving up. By offering unique personalized learning paths through live-video classes and cutting edge digital curricula we solve students’ #1 cause of failure, giving up, while delivering an awesome learning experience.

In December 2013 we released our first product on Japan’s Apple App Store, and have since then reached #1 position in the education category, Apple app of the year 2014 and brought in over 1 million installs in Japan alone.

We are now expanding globally, growing fast, and looking for amazing people to join us.
